code 11 overheating!
code 11 overheating!
Alright so the other day I was driving and my CEL turned on, I also notcied car began to idle funny, so I plugged in ecu to lap top and had a CEL 11 and it said overheating, so I turned off my car, my temp gauge only ready a slight bit over the 1/2 dash on cluster. So I let motor coold down and I checked coolant I was about 0.5 gallon low so I put coolant in motor and car idled pefect and no more CEL. My question is, did hondata add this CEL to its program cuz I couldn't find how to troublke shoot a code 11 in my jdm p 30 b16 manual or any other honda manual. If this CEL turns on, what trggers it to turn on (ECT perhaps)? At what temp does motor have to be for it to turn on, and does it put motor in safe mode like turning off vtec and stuff? I just want to be informed what ecu does when cel 11 turns on. Thanks

It seems to be a hondata only code, never seen it on any oem code lists.
Think u will find code is set by the temp value u set in Protection tab/Overheating Protection.
It also seems only effect on motor will be the rev limit which is also set by you under the temp value, but it seems u might have been "limping" by what u describe of the idle, did it go real rich as well?
And yes,it will be an ECT reading triggering it.
To fully clear the code, ignition must be switched off.
