Just a Boost Control Question

Post by jiggacivic »

would a boost by speed option be better to control wheelspin and give more consistent times.

what would give better control?
am i missing something simple here?

as u lose traction, your road speed input to the ecu rises as well as your rpm....boost rises in both instances....

i could understand if your speed was not being read off the driven wheels or something

the fact that your speed sensor is directly coupled to your gearbox....what would make the difference?

Boost by speed has the same limitations as boost vs gear/rpm (essentially the same thing). The factory ecu uses input from the driven wheels, so the s300 is based around that. If you use a speed source from the non driven wheels (rear wheels) VSS based boost works VERY well, infact its superior to gear, rpm or time based boost control. AEM, Motec, etc can control boost based from the non-driven wheels. The rear abs sensor/pick-up is the cheapest/easiest method to get a VSS reading from the rear wheels, however it will not work with the OEM ecu.
