Post by newsoltsc »

So I got my s300 ecu installed and it reads I have 3 codes.

1) o2 sensor (I have it unplugged so thats that code.)

2) 9 CYP - cylinder sensor (where the hell do I start to fix for this??)

3) 20 Electrical load detector (stumped on this one as well... wtf?)

Any ideas on fixes??

So I did a little research and someone said that corrosion on the cable linking to the alternator can cause the ELD.

I do have a lot of Blue stuff on the positive side of the battery.
Ill clean that off and see what happens! :?

Ok so I cleaned the battery terminals and still get the ELD cel.

So I just disabled it in the S300 haha!

So now just CEL 9.

Hmm... Maybe I'll pickup a new dizzy next week and see if that fixes it!

You need to find out if your car ever had an ELD in the first place.

Good question.
How would I be able to tell if my car came equipt with ELD?
There is no "plug" or "fuse" to look for from what I've read.

I found this:
"Beginning with the 1990 model year, certain Hondas were equipped with an Electronic Load Detention (ELD) module which was designed to improve fuel economy by almost shutting off the alternator during light throttle and idle. If the module fails, the ECM loses a sensor and the vehicle may experience stalling, rough idle, or low / no alternator output. Fault code 20 will be set."

I also found this:
"check the vin...if the car was made in Canada they do not have an ELD."

My car was made in Canada.

I've read several posts that replacing the Fuse Box inside the engine bay will clear this code.

I really dont "feel" or "see" a difference with this CEL on. It could be the p28 I bought has the "ELD Chip" installed on it. I've read that some have them and some don't.
I can't refer back to my old ECU because I recently sold it.

Then just disable the ELD error in Misc under Parameters.
