Gauge clusters are not accurate for measuring temps. They have a range of about 60 to 80 degrees where they do not even move.

Also you need to use the original gauge cluster temp sensor from the engine that was originally in the car. IF you swap the cluster you must use the sensor for that cluster.

Example:
87 Integra with ITR swap using ITR sensor gauge was way off, swapped in the original sensor from the d16a1 (86-87 model) and it worked perfectly
Friend with an 89 Integra with a different cluster than an 86-87 Integra also cannot use the ITR sensor, but must use the 88-89 sensor from a d16a1. The sensor from the 86-87 is different from the 88-89.

When the car is cold, datalog and see how close the IAT and ECT temps are, they should be within a few degrees of each other.

So, my question then is, with a different sensor, won't the ECU read a different temp as well?
This is the obvious fix for the temp gauge on my 91 CRX not reading correctly w/my OBD1 B16.

no the gauge has nothing to do with teh 2 wire ect sensor. Only the 1 wire sensor must be matched to the cluster.

Gauge sensor is for a 95 integra. The gauge is from a 95 integra cluster. I have the gauge mounted by itself in the driver's AC duct. I have no AC or heat. It has a 12v, a ground and the wire going to the sensor. No resistance or problems. When the ECT's show about 212 the gauge sensor is showing 37 ohms resistance at the sensor and the gauge. The front of the engine at the exhaust flange is about 205. Everything seems to be fine. I removed the slim 12" fan I had and mounted a stock 95 civic fan to the fluidyne because it had the big shroud that covered it perfectly. I drove around for a little while and stayed around 190. got on the interstate and drove about 60mph (100 kph) and it rose to 202 within about 4 miles. Stayed at that temp back through town and when I got home it rose to about 208. Temp gauge never got to halfway. Haven't got the code 6 since putting in the new ect sensor.

OK, car runs fine in town. ECT sensor reading goes real hot once on interstate immediately. Gauge is showing fine. ECT is showing 220 and gauge finally made it to half way. Probe at thermostat housing never went ober 195. Should I just ignore the ECT? Engine doesn't seem to be overheating. IR thermostat at head showed about 175 on intake side of head and 200 on exhaust side of head. I have done everything to make this thing run cool and nothing helps!!!! No one ever said anything about the datalogs. Can someone please tell me if there is anything there. Timing, fuel, any ideas from it at all. Thanks
