Set timing with Hondata

Post by Tsuchinoko »

I just want to know a thing, i already read and try diferent ways to set the timing.
The thing i want to know is.

I set the timing by oem procedure.
After that with smanager i go to: online --> set timing i grab the timing gun i re-set timing to 16ºbtdc by smanager. The distributor is now almost at the maximum advanced position. I hit close in smanager.

I put the timing gun and the timing is i would say correct with hondata ~850rpm ~21/2º.

Ok know the questions:

Is this normal the cars you people tune is this the normal values for 850 rpm? (b18c engine)

Why by the oem way the timing is not the same has hondata, if is because the corrections when we set the timing on a car without hondata by the oem seting procedures this car at 16º is retard compared to the same with hondata (Normally ignition timing at idle will not be the nominal 14 or 16 degrees, due to compensations from rpm, temperature and idle speed.)?

I just want to know why this and i don't know if i making my self clear.

Thanks
Those who know don't tell, and those who tell don't know.

The way it is done through Hondata is that you get a flat unchagning ignition value set so that you then match the distributor to that figure. Then when you close the set timing window it is using the compensations and reading from the actual tables.
