couple of problems

Post by eg6-b18c6 »

hi all, just fitted a k20a2 into my dc2 and am having some problems with kmanager.

i have managed to load a cal onto my ecu (PRC, serial number 03226 iirc) and have got the car started, but have a few error codes.

first problem is the multiplexor. i know i need to disable it, but when i go on parameters then misc, i can see the option i want to choose but it's light gray so im unable to click on it. in fact i think all of the parameters are light gray and therefore cannot be changed.

also about half of the drop down menu's optons are light grey, but i can change some basic things like temperature units etc. i am pretty sure its something simple i am doing wrong but just cant seem to figure it out

i have read everything i can find on the net about k-pro and road tuning but havent really seen anything about using kmanager itself. ie i know what i need to change, but dont know how to make the changes......is there a beginners guide anywhere?

thanks in advance for any help, i really apreciate it

What calibration are you using?

The k20a2 ips, cai, header one. Was previously using the race version thinking it meant race header.

Mods are ips k2, rbc, dtr header, custom intake on an edm k20a2

I was a bit, ooh, that one says race so it must be the best.

Still not sure on my wideband wiring as the wires don't go to the ecu they go to the large connector on the k20 harness which goes through into the engine bay and not into the ecu as I would expect

Which would be the safest cal to run in open loop? Just until I fix the wideband? I need to make a journey of around 15 miles.

I'll only be taking it easy.

Cheers

prc

my wideband problem is down to the fact that i am using a edm ep3r engine harness which does not come with a wideband from the factory. therefore the wire which goes from the c101 pin 13 to a16 on the ecu is missing, and also the wire from c101 pin 15 to ecu pin a22 is also missing.

why does this wiring come from my conversion harness, through c101, and then as far as i can tell out into the engine bay and back in to the ecu 'a' plug.

can i connect the wires directly from my conversion harness into the 'a' plug without without going through c101? where do the wires go inbetween c101 and the 'a' plug? also, c101 pin 15 has one of the wires from the relay of my conversion harness connected to it aswell. is the relay for the o2? can the relay wire meant to go through c101 pin 15 be connected directly to the ecu also?(c101 pin 15 is a big terminal so looks like it has to deal with quite a lot of current)

i hope what i have wrote makes sense, i have seen an article regarding swapping a non wideband k20 to a wideband version by adding a couple of wires and a relay but am unsure exactly which parts relate to me since i have a swap harness with a relay built in whereas the article i saw was a car which came with a k20 from the factory.

how can i remove some unused pins from my ecu plugs to refit them in the two positions i require (a16 and a22 have no pin at all) as i wont get any from a breakers over here and honda will probably take a long time.....im pretty sure there are plenty of pins not in use on on my ep3 harness which will have a pin and wire fitted to them.

thanks for helping, cheers

I would suggest contacting them for assistance with the wiring with their harness.

the fault with my wideband was due to the fact mine had a blue instead of a green.

well if you get a wideband which has the blue instead of the green then do not just wire it with the blue as a replacement for the green, but wire the blue to where the white normally goes and the white to where the green normally goes.

was really lucky to find this, saw a post by someone who had ordered a replacement wideband but it came with a blue instead of green and luckily his post had a picture of the plugs.

just gotta figure out how to do a datalog and post it on here now and hopefully someone might take a look and help me do a bit of tuning :D (fingers crossed)
