Problem with IAT Sensor

Post by teze »

Hello !

I might ask something very obvious here, but I am not able to figure this out myself.

I have a PRB hooked up to a K20A with JSRC and 650 cc injectors.

It seems like there is some kind of problem with the IAT sensor. Could someone please take a look at the linked .kdl file ?
IAT.kdl

The engine started with cams at 0 degrees. The IAT sensor was throwing all kind of data from -5 degrees celsius up to about 28 degrees Celsius which actually was the ambient temperature at that time.

Obviously there is something wrong, the IAT should be somewhere around 25-27 Celsius at all times and not going down & up to or below zero. However a little later everything seemed to be OK again.

I have some other .kdls where the IAT is stuck at 35.2 degrees Celsius and the cams are locked at 0 degrees again. But I also have some datalogs where just everything is fine.

Do you guys believe this is caused by
* a faulty IAT sensor
* wiring problem
* faulty ECU ?

I cant seem to really find this out. Sometimes everything works just ok and sometimes the IAT sends incorrect information.
Has anybody ever experienced something like this ?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks TC

It could be any of the three causes you have idenitifed. Swap the IAT out first; faulty wiring or a bad ECU are only usually if someone has changed the wiring or it is an engine swap.
