Wierd JRSC LEAN issue

Post by beat »

I just started tuning my LHT JRSC today.
I have an original JDM B18C type R engine.

I am running:
- LHT JRSC setup with MVM stepper pulley boosting at 8psi
- T1R 725cc injectors
- stock fuel pump, fuel rail, FPR

I uploaded the B18C JRSC map and tried to use it at a base map and it was REALLY LEAN.... I saw a 17:1 AFR and I was not even lose to high rpms, so I stopped. Then dumped 40% more fuel for the car to run at 11:1 AFR. Stopped at there and will tune again another day.

Any idea why those base maps are that far off?

You are using completely different injectors than what that calibration was tuned with. They have different flow rates. Also the calibration used a walbro 255 fuel pump.

Is there a preferred method of what would produce the best results?

1) use smaller injectors but higher fuel pressure and bigger fuel pump?

2) use stock FPR/pump and just big (725cc) injectors?

3) use "medium" (550cc) injectors, uprated fuel pump and stock FPR?

Number 3 is what LHT has recommended to their JRSC customers. I was wondering if there was any specific pros and cons to any of the above setups?

It is really up to you, as long as it is tuned properly with whatever setup you are using.

Is there a base map that is suitable to run for the setup I have?

Any basemap you use will need to have changes made and then it will need to have the AF timing tuned properly to run safely.

Any idea which base map will be closer to start with and what kind of adjustments to ign and fuel?

Probably the one you have started with...the other option is to start from a completely stock base map. All basemaps can be found by going to File, New.
