so much knock ????

Post by spider00rr »

I just did a k20a2 swap in my base rsx and I use the same knock sensor. I have been trying to tune the car but I keep getting these knocks. I was tuning today and didn't have much problem I would get about 8-10 knocks at the most with a 3rd gear run. Then they were going down. but now I get knocks when I am around 4k to 5k. but I only get them if I am driving in a gear mostly 3rd or 4th. I have tryed to pull out ignition but it is not helping at all. I have tryed useing different kal's and they do the same thing even the k20a2 stock kal. The a/f is off but I don't see why I knock at that certaint point. I also would knock sometimes when I am at red line and bouncing the needle in a pull but that didn't always happen. I don't hear anything that would sound like knock. the weird this is the knock level is not higher then the threshold and it is still knocking. I have some logs and a kal if someone could look at them

Usually the cause is something mechanically on the engine causing the knock sensor to read knock. Check everything is secure and nothing is touching the engine when it is running.

It could be valve clearance. We've seen anything from a loose starter motor bolt to the intake hitting the hood showing as knock. Superchargers seems to show as knock off throttle as well.

yeah I just did a valve lash and it was good. I am going to try changing the spark plugs to NGK's. also I have been told that my duty is 100 % and I need to get that fixed some how I will post up a log in a sec. I only have a K20a2 with CAI/DCRH / EX and IMG with esmm. when I was running my k20a3 with z1 head swap I didn't have this problem

so do you think I need bigger injector's or is there a problem with the fuel pump. The weird thing is this is my new motor k20a2 and before running my k20a3 with z1 head swap I didn't have this problem. So I just saw that some people are cutting off the screen's of there 270cc injectors and sent them to rc and they came back saying there were 490cc. 480cc before cleaning. So I was thinking of doing that really quick tomorrow and see what happens. what do you think I was going to put 450cc as a number in kpro like the guy did and ran like that for a year.

I think you better check your fuel pump, stock injectors won't be maxed out with those parts unless something is wrong.

so I guess I need to check my fuel pressure first to see if the pump is good ?

I also just bought some NGK's and saw that on the back it said they help with fuel consumtion. I wonder if that would have anything to do since I am running bosh fusion's. So I am going to put thoese in and check it and if it doesn't fix it then off to auto zone to get a guage to check the fuel pressure.
