new to kpro, please help wideband question

Post by tjjolliff »

i am getting kpro soon, i am going to instal a wideband on my car before i recieve the kpro. when people instal the widebands using kpro do they use the wideband output to the kpro input to give it kpro wideband readings?

you can use the stock wideband but if you want to install a different sensor you can use the ELD input.

i was gonna just use the wideband to monitor the engine and make sure it didnt run lean. is there any advantage of running the wideband to the kpro or is the stock one plenty good?

The stock one is best as it also allows you to run in closed loop and use lean protection.

So if you add an aftermarket wideband there is no way to datalog it through k-pro??

I'm confused.

I'm looking at getting an Innovative Wideband because the factory o2 can't read below 11.5. That makes it very hard to tune my nitrous setup since I'm shooting for 11.5-11.7 A/F's.

Is there any way to datalog the aftermarket wideband without messing up your closed loop and lean protection from the primary o2?

stock rsx-s wideband can read as low a 10.8 i beleve.

yes you can datalog an aftermarket wideband through Kro , you were already told , run it to the ELD pin of the ecu. set it up in options , away you go.

using an aftermarket wideband is only good for datalogging A/R. nothing else.

Nope, it can only read to 11.5. This was quoted directly from Hondata's description of K-PRO.

"The stock JDM and US O2 sensor is wide band and can read from 11.5:1 to 30:1 A/F ratios."

So basically, all I have to do is run the output from the Wideband gauge to the ELD pin on the ECU and I'll be able to datalog it's readings, and it wont' effect anything with the primary o2 sensor? It will just be another sensor that I can datalog while in K-PRO. CORRECT???

**EDIT: I just answered my own question. I was messing around with K-PRO and read the HELP section. Basically, when set up properly, you will see the reading of the Aftermarket Wideband in your datalogs. But, K-PRO will still use the primary o2 for Closed Loop Operation. END EDIT**

what is there an echo in here? lol. look at my post before yours compared to the one you just made , see any similarities? little repetition perhaps? lol

im not gonna argue with you , but i assure you it can read lower than 11.5. its in the high 10's. unless when i read datalogs they are lying to me , lol.

Scroll down to General Notes. 8) They specifically state 11.5.

One thing still has me a lil' confused though. When you go into Help in Kmanager, and pull up the Closed Loop Settings, it shows a box that you can check that is called "Datalog ELD Voltage". When I go under Closed Loop to check the box though, it's not there. The only place it's shown is in the Help File. It also says - "not in operation" in the description for it. Does that mean you don't have to check this box when you add a wideband? Just setup the Wideband Lamda Input under the Settings and that's it?

go to options , settings. select use external instead of stock wideband. select the wideband senor you are using. if your using AEM there is no setting for it , so use PLX setting. once car is running and your reading the wideband. fill in the voltage offset box in the same place to make Kmanager read the same EXACTLY as the gauge for the wideband. your done.

the stock wideband can read as low as 10.7. you dont wanna bet me , youl lose your money , lol. i dont care what that link says. and im certain hondata can confirm this for you , simply cause , its fact.

It'll read to 10.8 but I think the safety cover is they'll say it's only accurate to 11.5.
Might be wrong tho.

My AEM UEGO reads exactly the same as my stock wideband tho give or take 0.1 and thats down to 10.8

I've never been able to datalog mine at anything below 11.4 when tuning my nitrous. It just flatlines and stays at 11.4.

Can someone from Hondata verify this?

If you go on ebay right now, you can find the Innovative and AEM widebands for $199 shipped. I'm not sure which one I want though. I've installed countless AEM UEGO's so I'll probably just stick with that one.
