Engine swap using kpro car wont start!

Post by tgan87 »

Here is my story I swapped a 2002 k20a2 type s motor into my 2005 rsx base (k20a3) I bought a used kpro from a friend and installed into my car, after uploading a calibration in kmanager just ot get my car running I tried to start the car, and it started but then shut off after about 10 seconds, I tried uploading the calibration again and the car started and did the same thing, if i keep trying to start it, it will crank but wont start up if you have any suggestions or know the reason why this is happening please let me know oh also i was told to change my 05 primary o2 sensor to a 02-04 primary which has not been done yet but could that be the problem or is it something else?

Ok my serial number is 05003801 and the code on the ecu itself is 37820-PND-A09

Now when i put the 02 k20a2 motor and tranny in my 05 base model rsx 5spd I used the 02 engine harness like i thought I was supposed to and the kpro I bought was out of an 02-04 rsx so i figured everything will plug up fine and it did, I loaded the first calibration in kmanager on there just to get my car running the car started up sounded great I was happy then 10 seconds later it cuts off please help me find a solution to my problem

You have already called us about this and I explained that you cannot use the 02-04 harness in an 05-06 vehicle. For this to work properly you must use the 05-06 harness and then get a K-Pro that is meant for an 05-06 vehicle. You will also need to either use an 05-06 transmission, or you will have to transfer the internals from the 02-04 transmission into the 05-06 case.

Repeatedly asking this question will not change the answer.

I believe the case is the same for a base or Type S 05-06 transmission.

if your using the 6 speed tranny , its good to use the type s harness. if your uing your base 5 speed on the type s engine. use your harness you have. if im wrong im sure someone else can help you further.

Oh T/S you are lucky I stumbled upon this thread. I also have done this swap. You are going to get rid of that 02-04 harness and use your stock 05 base engine harness, just tape off the two extra IMRC sensors since you will not be using them on the PRB manifold. Re-use your 05 base knock sensor. Use your 05 base model transmission, or get an 05-06 Type-S transmission. Last but not least, visit your nearest Hondata dealer and have the 02-04 K-Pro shipped out to get converted to 05-06. Then your car will run fine just like mine is. I have an 05 Base 5 speed with a 2003 K20a2.
