JDM DC5 datalog, anyone wanna comment?

Post by starlet »

Ive just had my car dyno tuned, altho im abit concerned that the tune isnt as good as it could be,

The tuner has set a lock on it so i cannot modify it so just wanna see what people think of my datalog.

Mods are Pod filter, Kakimoto 2.35inch exhaust, K-Pro

4th gear run, WOT air temp around 23 degrees Celcius

You got a couple knocks which should be tuned out and running a tad rich at certain times but all in all it's not a bad tune.

If I was you I'd go back and tell them you are getting a couple counts of knock and would like them tuned out free of charge as shouldn't have any.

Either that or ask for the map so you can pull a couple degrees yourself.

Also I'm surprised the cam needs to be retarded so much as I had mine at 40 degrees constant to redline in my old ITR DC5. Wouldn't be surprised if they've just stuck in a generic map and tuned the fuel rather than locking the cam angles and checking each one for best gains.

Yea as you said all i think they have done is tune the fuel, not ignition and cam angles.

Am i suppose to do datalogs in open loop or closed? that was in closed

If it is WOT it automatically switches to open loop. Only part throttle tuning and datalogs needs to be set to open loop through kmanager.

i agree , looks like a good tune. i dont know what fuel you run but it looks like you could run a little more timing.

fuel is 98 octane, Im in New Zealand so we dont get too bader fuel over here.

Do u think any of you too could send me a tune better than this one or should i just stick to this and get him to iron out the "Low Speed" hesitation it has.

Are you keen to look at some more datalogs maybe?

We'd need to start from scratch to get one better than that one and that can take time and many, many datalogs. I don't mind looking at your logs for you.

Did the tuner say he was just gonna give u a basic tune or a full tune?

If it was a full tune, I reckon we could come up with a very basic, rough map to prove they haven't done that and you could go back and try and get what you asked for with proof they haven't delivered.

Also since the tuner has locked your map, once you upload another map you can't go back to the one your tuner put in unless he gives it to u.
