IGNITION FUSE KEEPS BLOWING/ COULD IT BE KPRO?

Post by BRIAN05 »

Hello everyone, just posting to see if KPRO could be the cause for my igniton fuse to keep blowing. I have a 2002 civic si with a Full-Race turbo kit. Kpro 750cc injectors, Walboro High flow fuel pump.

My car will crank with a good fuse in and i can drive it for a little while. But sometimes i'll put a fuse in and try to drive off and then Boom it blows fuse after fuse. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else and If my Kpro may cause this to happen? Right now i'm looking into a bad O2 sensor that has no voltage, could that be the cause?

like i said, i'm just curious and trying to narrow down my options. thanks for your time.

No, the K-Pro wil not be the cause. The cause is most likely damaged wiring somewhere and you have a short. If you are unable to find the problem you need to take the car to an electrical specialist or to the Honda dealer.

Remember that the KPro sits inside the stock ECU and does not directly interface with the rest of the car. Thus it cannot alter the ECU wiring requirements.

If the ignition fuse is blowing, then the cause is a wiring fault. The most common problem we see is a wiring harness where an ECU output is wired directly to +12V when it should not be. Please find and fix this before running the car because this type of wiring fault will elevate the ECU ground to above that of the rest of the car, which often damages the ECU & KPro. If your o2 sensor is not working then this is also part of the same problem.

Look at the wiring diagram for the engine swap (http://www.hondata.com/images/k20awiring.gif) and check the main relay wiring, ignition wiring and o2 sensor relay wiring.

in a situation like this , ill unplug sensors one at a time , try doing whatever it was that blew the fuse until the problem is found. this is of course if the problem is with a short under the hood. by the sounds of it , the car is stock wiring wise. for this kind of problem to occur in a car that is all stock stil , other than mods , is not common. you say you have a bad O2 sensor , try unplugging it and running the car without it plugged in. try that first.

thanks! I'm just getting back to check messages on forum. So far i've found a connector (EPS) that was melted due to the fact that the heat wrap came loose. Could that be the cause?? could that cause the ignition fuse to blow though???? Huuummmmm? Will also check on your suggestions. I really do appreciate all of your help guys.

WOOOHOOOO!!!

Not only was my EPS connector burt, but my ECM Harness was caught in the crossfire too. Luckily I had it wrapped with heat wrap or this would have been much worse. there were just a couple wires that had some damage. One of which was a Blk/wht wire that happend to be my ignition coil wire, thereby blowing my ignition fuse. The Harness somehow got trapped between my Down pipe and Rack and pinion i think it's called which burnt it. So I fixed the wires and then re-routed my harness.

Thank you guys for your help. I Feel good now that I didn't take my car to someone and pay hundreds of dollars to have them fix it.

Thanks Again for all your Knowledge
