Downloading cal file

Hey all. I'm kinda new to this stuff. I tried to download the cal file off my ecu onto my laptop and it comes up with an error message saying it can't do it. I don't know if the shop that tuned my car made it that way so I can't view/change anything or if like only the computer that uploaded it can download the file? Shouldn't I be able to download the cal file without any probs? I updated the drivers and stuff. I just wanted to use my 2 step and full throttle shift and all that good stuff that the shop didn't set up. Thanks
