Cel light with no codes.

Post by Jaker »

As a user/programmer of the Hondata S200 I have scratched my head for a long time trying to figure this one out. When turning on the car, everything is normal. The CEL lights up for the diagnostic and then shuts off. Then when I start the engine, the CEL comes on almost immediately. There are no artificially low rev limits, or driveability problems. No codes are being reported. The light on the interface box does not blink, it simply glows solid red.

The datalogging works normally, and everything seems fine, except for the CEL. I have clipped J12. I have tried a 2nd interface box and the CEL behaves normally (diagnostic and then off, unless a code is reported). This 2nd interface box is not datalogging enabled.

Could there be a problem with the interface box? Could the interface box be causing some sort of component failure on the ECU?

Did you check the shiftlight settings?

Shiftlight would have to be at 1,000 rpm for this to be the problem. Thanks for the thought though. Honda Logger and Romeditor are both showing the CEL as being on, with no codes being reported.

Well, I'm a dumbass. Quicksilver, you were right. Turns out the shiftlight was set at 26 rpm. I never thought it would be possible. It must have been some sort of glitch, because it was at 8,000 for the longest time.

Thanks

Hehehe.... with the s200 there was a glitch that erases the pushbutton programming in the interface box. Somebody could have pressed the pushbutton switch.
