Kpro burn and die..

Post by alex_ctr »

Hi hondata..
yesterday night i try a datalog!I start the engine, open the laptop and start it, i connect the kpro usb cable and when windows xp is ok i have connect in the lighters the ac adapter for the laptop and next i connect the ac jack into the laptop!
When i connect the jack in the laptop i hearing a spark and the engine go off...next i felt a burn smell and the car don't start!
i play start and the mil is on and the multiplexer (key green) flash, i start the laptop and the kmanager don't see the kpro, the led on the kpro board is off!
I try to remove the kpro board and the car start in 4000 rpm mode with mil on!
I see in the kpro board a track burn near the usb port...the track burn go from the usb port to the 5 pin on the left of the kpro board!
I think the kpro board is damage ok, but why??
Why when i connect the jack to the laptop the kpro die?
is about 3 months that i use the ac lighters adapter (from the car 12v to laptop 20 v) and i don't have any problem!!
The car without the kpro work in a 4000 rpm mode..you think i have burn the ecu over the kpro?
In the ecu i don't see track burn or other ..

You have damaged the K-Pro board and possibly damaged the ecu as well. It will be $100 for diagnostics. THe K-PRo board replacemnent is $250 and if the ECU is damaged you must supply a new ecu and the cost to install the K-Pro into it is $150. You must contact Hondata and obtain an RMA number before anything can be sent in.

You appear to have some kind of grounding problem in the car that has caused this damage.

You will need to contact Alientech in Italy and make arrangements to have them test your ecu to see if it is still working with a different K-Pro.
