Injector driver durability

Does an injector driver in the K-Series ECU's work 100% to it's capacity until it's smokey death?

Or is the death gradual?

As in, would the injector driver stop working at "X"-amount of duty when used with low impedance injectors (without resistor box), or would it work up until the whole driver burned up?

If low impedance injectors are used then the drivers could be damaged so that they fail at a certain current or temperature. Duty cycle only makes a different by influencing the above two conditions.
