reffing kswap eg in CA

Post by LHDEG6 »

I have a 93 hatch with an 03 type-s swap. I've made my fuel system returnless, wired in all the e-vap, using type-s ecu, wired in an immobilizer,BUT the car is not (running/storing) the self tests. I've been told that its because i dont have the multi-plex wired in, i dont know if thats true?, Ive also been told that K-PRO can take care of this. Any feed back would be GREATLY appreciated!! THANKS

It sounds like you don't have the ecu wired in properly and it's not getting backup battery power.

It has a hybrid racing subharness and seems to run fine. I have the EG and RSX service and electronic troubleshooting manuals that i used. In the RSX etm i couldnt find anywhere that showed where a "hot at all times" to the ecu was for back-up like i found in the EG etm any suggestions? Thanks

The ECU keep alive power is via the main relay. You need to wire the main relay exactly as per the RSX wiring - the hybrid harness does not do this.

The eg has a 7 pin main relay and the the rsx main relay(1) has 4 pins; I talked to someone who suggested that i swap pin5(blk/yel) and pin7(yel/wht) and that should work. I have done this but its still not storing self tests, did i swap the right wires pin6 is a yel/blk should it have been that one? Still wondering if i need to try to use a complete rsx under-dash harness? THANKS for the help!!! P.S. i have both a type-r and type-s ecu what one would be better to k-pro

There is no way that the EG main relay can be used correctly in an engine swap to a K-Series. You don't need the RSX under dash harness. The main relay needs to be replaced with a relay wired as per the RSX.

A friend helped me locate an article from the tech section on k20 engine swap wiring. Will this help me? i can still use my main relay but rewire it to k "specs" right? I read somewhere that the type-s ecu was better to use for k-pro because it let you do more features? THANKS for the help!!!!

The EG main relay must be replaced. You can't re-wire it.

Yes, the PRB ECU will give more outputs than the PRC.

Almost any automotive relay will work. See the wiring diagram on this page. http://www.hondata.com/techk20wiring.html
