No response/communication from ECU

Post by vacantskies88 »

I purchased a used S300 & P06 recently. I was told it had a turbo d16 calibration so I'm switching it to the stock P74 settings for my 95 Integra RS.

My problem is that it seems as if I am getting no communication from the ECU whatsoever. None of the values change when looking at the display/guages, it stays at the standard 0, -29.5, 0.00, 0 0, 32, 32 figures all the time and datalogging confirms this as all values stay flat.

If I go to the top drop-down menus, ONLINE, INFORMATION it does show the hardware version 0.01, serial number, firmware 1.04 etc

Computer - New HP with Vista, I've also tried on a Compaq with XP and I get the same thing. I also made sure both have 1.3.8.0 and updated USB drivers. I also did the USB troubleshooting as my HP had the yellow exclamation mark when I first started working with it, but have since fixed it

The bundle did not come with the USB cable so I purchased a cheap USB cable, it's not shielded - would this make a difference in communication ?

Obvious question: are you starting datalogging?

All USB cables are shielded, even the cheapest.

Yes - F10 then F9, correct?

Here's what I purchased, it does not have that large lump like most of my other USB cables so I guessed that it is not shielded. Of course I could be wrong though

Has J12 been cut in the ECU? Who socketed the ecu?

Just checked and J12 is cut, I contacted the previous owner to see if he has the info on who did the work. I don't know if it can be traced at all, but it's serial #0858

What happens when you go to File, NEw and select a calibration and upload it to the ecu?

It does say ONLINE in the bottom left corner, and when I attempt to upload the P74 file and hit Ctrl+U it does seem that it is being uploaded correctly. It's just that the numerical values on the DISPLAY window do not move from the preset values

This sounds like a problem with the ECU socketing, or that the S300 is not properly seated on all the pins.
