Connection problems ecu-laptop

Post by FORDSKIN »

Hi guys I have problem connecting my S300 to my laptop.

Vehicle:
A 1992 gen 2 OBD1 DA6 integra JDM model. Factory ecu is a OBD1 PR3

Ecu im using:
I have purchased a P72 with a S300J installed by hondata second hand. The ecu worked fine in the previous car. Only ever touched by Hondata authorised dealer RallyAS here in New Zealand.

Mods they may effect ecu:
Resistor box has been wired in
Battery has been moved to boot.
Car was originally an automatic, but has a manual conversion done. Still using auto loom.
Removed a/c, no ac plug ends/
Lengthened wire to IAT sensor

Problem:
Laptop will not detect ecu at all.
Followed all help files from smanager word for word, including installing usb drivers etc.
Have tired using smanager off the disk supplied by hondata and version downloaded off the hondata website.
Have tried 2 different laptop computers and 3 different usb cables.
Have tried turning off all security firewalls etc.
Laptops will not detect "new hardware" or anything once ignition is turned on.

Have read throught the first 10 pages on here to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Loading a base map is the last thing I need to do now before starting the engine.

Regards, Mike.

No need to reply. Found the problem. I had unplugged the fuel relay to test gauges etc whilst the fuel lines were disconnected.

Re-plugged the fuel relay and all works well.

With age the main relay can fail. If you can, pull the case off the relay and touch up the solder on all the solder joints (adding a little fresh solder).
