JDM Type R K20A TC

Post by fd2Jas »

Dear Hondata,

Currently my K20A put on TC kit
GT28R (0.48bar)
Intercooler
additional 2x injector
DBW Throttle

Currently using Unichip with VTEC Module.

Heard about VTEC Overlapping cam isn't good for Turbo
So Tunner disable and put VTEC cross point over to 8000rpm.
So conclusion is.. my K20A has non VTEC at all.

Can I know is it true that VTEC point has to be higher?
Currently the high-end seems worse than N.A

Can K100 solved via lowing the VTEC point rather than increasing it?
Cos... its sad with the VTEC pull and sound.

Thanks

Intension is to change to K100
Using 4x 440cc injectors and change to Drive by Wired Throttle

Well, tat is what I have in mind.
Currently I am not using Hondata but someone recommended me
that Hondata can control VTC and VTEC point which will work
well with my small Snail TurboCharger.

Well, I just need some expert here.
With K20A, 11.7 Compression ratio, boosting at 0.4bar with GT28R

Any successful FI VTEC K20A engine here with also
VTEC engagement?

I seriously need some expert feedback.

Over reading some Hondata Seminar, there is a note written of increasing VTEC point if boost.
So conclusion is, vtec disable or what?

Which I am now very confused...

I am on K100 now.
Tunner disable the entire VTEC.
Due to overlapping issue, Power drop badly when VTEC kick in.

Any recommend on cam replacement or is mine GT2560R
Compressor unit too small?

Everything is running fine and good low-mid pull than UniChip.
Air intake temp reading all time low around 19c at highway.
Using 550cc injectors

Am glad but overall top end power isn't up to my expectation after so much $ has spent.

yo bro,

why do I need a K-Pro when my tunner can tuned and update onto K100?
Please advise.. thanks.

Currently, my S15 OEM GT28R (Aka GT2564R) is running at 0.4bar
Current Dyno shows only manage to hit 180 whp.
Stock N.A is able to reach at least 200 whp.

TOTAL DISAPPOINTED... :( sob sob

Can ask any Expert here, by raising the boost to 0.5bar helps to regain the top end?
Or simply to say.. That small snail can't catch his breath for such high rpm...

Do you have an FD2 as your username suggests that? If so I don't think there is Kpro for your car yet as it's fly by wire.

OK just reread your initial post and your car does have DBW so guessing it is a FD2 which rules out Kpro until Hondata sort that out.

Also I don't have any experience with turbo charged cars only supercharged and just had a look at the base maps on Kmanager for TC cars. Their crossover varies between 5-6k

Yap, mine is FD2R.

Had changed to J Racing DBWired...
Now running K100.

Tunner managed to make a few good adjustment, but overall...
just feel that my turbo is too small to hold at high rpm.

Currently boosting 0.5bar at 11.7 stock compression. :o
