Why am I getting CEL code #1?

Post by TB123 »

I posted this on Honda-Tech but did not get any replies so I thought I would see if anyone here can help me. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :D

Original H-T post:
I am getting CEL code #1 (oxygen content or oxygen sensor #1) in my 1995 turbo gsr. The CEL only comes on after I have been driving for a while and then goes away when the engine has been turned off and cooled. I am unsure why I am getting this code. I have the 02 sensor disabled in the Hondata software and a PLX wideband installed. I am running an open loop system. How can the ecu be throwing an oxygen sensor code if the oxygen sensor is not telling it anything? By the way, the ECU is a 0BD-I P72 with Hondata S300. Thanks for the help.

Update:
I switched to a closed loop system by adding another bung in the exhaust and putting the oem oxygen sensor back in. I drove around like this for over a week without getting the code. I thought that I had solved the problem, but all of a sudden, the code came back. I am out of ideas, please help. Thanks!

I had version 1.3.4.0. Should I try uploading the changes again with the updated software version 1.3.8.0?

You should always use the latest version of software if you are troubleshooting a problem.
