new to hondata

Post by si2-gusgus »

hi there folks :D :D

im new to hondata so bare with me!
runnin an eg6 sir2 and wanting to start with hondata
am i right in saying that it must be the s3ooj and not the s300 as its jdm spec?
also,is it a good buy to purchase the ecu and s300j pack that is already manufactured together?(instead of getting it solder to my exixting ecu)are these complete units already to go(i.e can i just switch to the new ecu and the base map will run the car normally before i tamper with the Smanager?)the main thing i wana know is the last point!is it cool to buy-plug-drive straight away?
also is the s300j ok 2 use for NA motors?im planning on goin boost later in life wich is why im gettin the s300j(thinkin ahead  )but can i use it in the meantime effectively and good with NA?
any good advice would be helpfull guys,im mechanical n this tunning is a whoooooooole new ball game!

cheers

You can use any compatable ECU, where you live at and what "Domestic ECU" that you can get ahold of depends on if you want the US or J spec Hondata S300 installed. And yeah you can get more power with a turbo ALOT more for less than trying to go and create more power N/A. And if your N/A right now and car runs ok, stick with the OEM ECU. Unless your taking it straight to dyno after you recieve the installed S300 unit. I see so many people blowing up their motors just cause they want to have Hondata but not pay to get them properly tuned by an expert. Dont add yourself to that list....

thanks for the reply!

so will the s300j be ok to use for NA application?
and can you tell me about the base map,i.e is it loaded with the basic fucnctions to operate the vehicle normally when i take it out the box?and are the things like launch control etc already loaded to the s300j or will i have to programmeit to get those it from the start?

cheers

What do you mean as in N/A

Like STOCK with basic bolt ons?
If so dont worry about attempting to run the S300, it would be a waste.
And for maps look up calibrations on their forum for your setup"if there is one" I posted my H22 turbo map and it's been downloaded 60+ times but still every motor acts differently even if it has the same stuff, altitude, humidity, and in-HG plays a major role in the tune. Lauch control is a enabled function that you need to enable yourself just by clicking on it an enabeling it. You need to have a WIDEBAND FOR SURE FOR ANYTHING YOU DO WITH A HONDATA

What I'm saying is, if it's a stock motor you dont need it. If it's altered in any major way "turbo, Nitrous, Supercharger" Then yeah get it. Any internal changes would require it like forged internals or cams, "not cam gears".

It's not a bangwagon have to have item if your not creating absolutely more power
