AEM UEGO Wideband Controller (30-4100)
Hello,
I am planning to install an AEM UEGO Wideband Controller.
I would like to learn a few things before the installation.
There is no service arround me which may help me so I am on my own. I am depending on your advices.
I have been reading several forums for a week, here is what I understood from my readings. Please correct me if I am wrong.
1. My PRA ECU is not able to read wideband signals.
2. My catalytic convertor is in place so I can't replace the secondery O2 sensor with the Bosch Wideband because readings will not be accurate since the values before and after the Cat. will be different.
3. I will use ELD input for datalogging.
Is it OK if I will drill a hole and make a port for the wideband, somewhere near the primary (A/F) sensor.
How will I connect the wideband to ELD? Will I cut the E15 wire and solder the wire coming from the UEGO Controller to the female connector?
If I cut the original E15 wire is it going to affect any functuality? The Idle air control valve depends on the ELD for revving the engine a little faster when the AC or the head lights are on doesn't it?

First of all we do not recommend the use of the AEM wideband. Many poeple have problems with these and they only have one output.
We only recommend the use of the PLX widebands.
INstallation should be similar (changing only the pin numbers) as for the s300: http://www.hondata.com/techplxwiring.html
Since this ecu is not used in the US and we do not have European vehicles to test in, this is not something we can offer any advice on.

Two questions:
1. Is "PLX Devices SM-AFR DM5 Wideband and Gauge Combo" what you are recommending?

I found a private Honda Service with engine modification experience (They prepare Honda's for racing.) and have them install an AEM UEGO 30-4100 to my CTR.
I am very satisfied with the accuracy by now and will be posting my calibration and datalogs in a few minutes.
They told me that grounding and sensor installation is very important for accurate readings and they have been installing AEM UEGO's for a long time.
Sorry for not following your recommendation but I can't find PLX Widebands here. And if I buy one online I have to pay 500$ Tax at our customs. Plus it will be very expensive for me to send the gauge for repairs if something happens.

All I have is the following description:
+12 is connected to a switched power source under the fuse box with an additional fuse.
Ground is connected to the main ground. What I saw was a lot of ground cables connected to the chasis.
And the signal cable is connected to ELD Pin (E15).
I will take a picture and post here as soon as I can.

My primary and secondary O2 sensors are in place. They drilled another hole near my primary O2 sensor and installed the wideband sensor there...em1 wrote:did you leave ur stock o2 pluged in? also do you have to go and change anything in parameters or anything?
