Having Trouble Getting Engine to Start Need Help!

Post by StErN »

I've been having troubles getting my engine to start. I'm not sure if it's ecu related, wiring related or sensor related. Engine ran like a champ when I took it out in December to change the oil pump and clean up the engine harness and now it doesn't want to start. I some how got it running the other day and everything seemed ok but then I went for a drive and it started miss firing and shut off. I've been at this for months now with only getting it to start the other day and thats it.

Just looking for any suggestions. Here's a link to my k20a.org thread. http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43110 The last page is most up to date on what I know and the symptoms.

Thanks in advance

If you changed the harness then that is most likely the problem. It is also possible that when you changed the oil pump you reassembled the engine incorrectly. Perhaps your cam timing is incorrectly set.

I've tried a working engine harness with no change and the oil pump and timing was assembled per the helms. I've done 4 fully assembled engine builds prior to this so this isn't my first experience with oil pumps and timing. I had the engine running a couple of days ago and it was running normal like before. I went for a drive and the car died about 5 blocks down the road so now I'm back to square one. I may just take all the wiring out and go through everything to make sure there is nothing grounding out etc.
