Smanager 1.3.6 won't open on clean xp install

Post by jonsteffen »

So I recently downloaded the newest Smanager 1.3.6 and after installing it on my laptop I can open the program right away, however if I close the program and reopen it, I get a "smanager.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" error message. With my older smanager program this never happened.

I figured it was just a messed up windows xp install so I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled xp, then the first program i installed was smanager 1.3.6, SAME PROBLEM, so I took my other laptop and wiped that, fresh xp install, and smanager still won't open.

The only time I can open the program is if I re-install the program and then then when it asks me if I want to open smanager after completion, I click yes. If I close the program and try to reopen, get the error above. HELP!!!

Just located an older version of Smanager (1.1.4), installed that, program opens and closes and opens again just like it should.

Problem not with my hardware, problem must be with 1.3.6 Computers are both pentium 3 Compaq laptop, and my amd xp2 6500 with 4 gigs ram, running xp and vista dual partition.

Thanks, oh also if the windows error log file would help you guys, let me know and I'll post the file.

You need to first download all the Windows updates from Microsoft to get it completely up to date. After you have done this, download and install the most recent version of Smanager.

Why does the newest version require that I download updates, but the last version I didn't have to? What updates exactly does it need and why will the program run right after install, but never again after that?

Well i just installed windows xp home with service pack 1a and now it works, so apparently you guys now incorporated something that needed service pack 1a into the newest version. So its not somthing that microsoft changed, its something you changed.

If you know what the update that is needed that would be great to know.
