What all is needed to log and burn chips...?

Post by s7e »

I was wondering what all is needed with the s200 system to log and to also burn my own chips? I would also like to burn chips for other people.

Will I need all of the following?

$200 Datalogging capability. Required if you wan tto tune it yourself
$200 ROM Editor V3 (requires datalogging). Required for tuning yourself.
$180 Romulator realtime emulator.
$180 Programmer (requires ROM Editor V3) Required for tuning yourself.

Along with the base system?

If somebody would just tell me what all is needed and what each of the above actually and why I would not need something... would be of great help!

Thanks a bunch.

If you are going to tune yours and/or other peoples ECUs then you would also need access to a dyno and a wideband. If not, at least a wideband and possibly the G Sensor Hondata sells. Other than that a few E(E)PROMs and you are ready to burn!

I understand that, but what is needed as far as hondata stuff? Like what features do I need to burn the chips and what do I need to datalog with hondata?

If you want to datalog then you need the datalogger and if you want to edit tables then you need RomEditor. Romulator is a useful device since it allows you to real-time tune the ECU in car. Other than that, that's pretty much all you need to start tuning and logging.

What if you don't want the datalog feature? Is it possible to just buy the rom editor and programmer?

Sure, they way Hondata structures the pricing you can just buy the S200 with RomEditor and a programmer with some PROMs and go about tuning/burning PROMs.
