Kpro conversion harness problems need HELP

Post by RlaeR »

Hi, I'm new to k20 swaps. I currently have a 93 civic si hatch with a k20a3 motor with dc headers, cai, 2.5" exhaust with no cat or muffler currently, an adjustable FPR, and aftermarket fuel rail. I'm currently running a PRB ecu with kpro and a conversion harness.

I had someone do the harness for me using a conversion harness after I did the motor swap and I'm having problems with kpro.

When I start kmanager and try to upload, download, or anything besides looking up the firmware info and status it won't let me.

I went through to check the harness connections and grounds to see if they were correct and they look correct to me except I'm still having problems with the kpro.

I recently opened the ecu up to see if something was wrong with maybe the daughterboard or something and I noticed that a pin that was soldered had fell off so I re-soldered it into place. That didn't fix anything.

So my current status on the car is that it starts and all sensors except primary o2 (didnt' hook up yet) works fine. The speedometer is off by 15 mph when going 90 mph on dash but using gps it says 75 mph. I can also only rev to 4k.. nothing more. I have no idling problems but I does take me a while to get the car to start when I haven't started it in a couple days.

Any suggestions please? and please don't flame. I'm new to this kind of setup and need any valuable input. I'm also in the Milwaukee/Sheboygan/Manitowoc/Green Bay area in Wisconsin so if anyone has time to take a look at it to get to run better so I can tune this thing we can negotiate something with cost, meeting up, and etc.

I'm also planning to boost it really soon once I get kpro to work. I have all my parts; I'm just waiting on this problem to get fixed. Thanks!

Any questions please ask.

What pin fell off? Can you please attach a picture?

Does the software show ignition on at the bottom?

Here is a couple pictures from my iphone..it's kinda crappy pics because of the lighting; Yes, I do have a digital camera but my gf has it at the moment.

The pictures are in that link regarding the ecu pin falling out.

Also the dark pin is the one that fell out. Looks like something happened there that shouldn't of happened.

Yes it also says ignition on at the bottom. I also tried checking the resistance between the cables thinking maybe there is a voltage shortage of some sort going on causing it to hit the 4k rev limit and etc. but everything was correct as it was around .01 ohms.

I searched around regarding the "upload fail" issues on here and tried the clear security function to see if it worked. That didn't work as well so I'm thinking something is wrong with the ecu/kpro.

I'm going to call hondata directly (not my local hondata dealer as they've tried some diagnostic stuff and haven't been too friendly and/or successful at it) towards this issue on repairing it.

Anyone have any ideas on the cost of repair?? Please chime on in! Thanks!

If you have melted pins on the ecu you have a MAJOR wiring problem in the car. We do not repair this type of damage as the current needed to melt a pin will have damaged other parts of the ecu as well. I would suggest taking your car to a shop that is familiar with engine swaps so that they can correct the fualty wiring which has damaged this ecu. You may also want to contact the manufacturer of the harness you are using.
