P28 obd2b question

Post by sm61 »

I have a P28 ecu modified by hondata for obd2 plugs, S300 installed. Sticker on side says p28 obd2b.Where do I find a diagram of pinouts for this particular ecu? Are all pinouts in the same spot as a stock p28? Thanks

You will have to look at the OBD2b pinouts. The plug is no longer OBD1.

My gsr is a 96, and the ecu is obd2b. So I need a jumper harness huh.

No one said that. You will just need to look at a wiring diagram with the ecu pinouts for OBD2b pinout.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=honda+obd2b+pinout

However if your car is a 96 Integra it should be OBD2A.

Thanks, thats exactly what I was looking for. Looks like connectors "A" and "C" are shaped the same. But connector"B" in the obd2b pic is shaped different than the connector "D" in the obd2a pic. So do I need a "B" connector to swap my wires into?

You don't need to change any plugs. You just have to look at a Helms manual to see the pinout for the year of your vehicle.

If you have th wrong ecu then you should get the correc ecu. YOu cannot use an ecu that has been converted for OBD2B on an OBD2A car. YOu will need to get the correct ecu that has been prepared for an OBD2A car.

Forgive my ignorance. This is my first time dealing with anything other than a stock ecu. If there is no alternative or way to make this work then I will sell the ecu and get another one. But what is stopping me from buying the one plug that is different, and switching around all the pinfits at the connectors so they match up to the connectors on the ecu? I am not challenging your expertice on hondata, I just want to be sure before I go selling this ecu. Also someone mentioned that I could get a jumper harness to run an obd2b ecu in an obd2a vehicle. Is this true? Thanks for all your advice.
