CLOSED/OPEN LOOP PROBLEM

Post by trlaing »

I am experiencing a hesitation problem when switching from closed to open loop and back again whilst driving. From my datalogs it looks like the ECU is switching between the two when in partial throttle. Is there a way to delay the switch from open to closed until the closed loop criteria has been met for a few seconds rather than immediately, to stop it alternating between open and closed?

This hesitation usually happens when reducing throttle after full throttle to keep a constant speed when approaching a corner or when I feel I'm going fast enough on a straight.

It would be better to change your closed loop parameters. Try stting a higher and lower map value and see whcih feels better.

If I try a very high map value, say 110kPa, the hesitation occurs more often than when max map is set at 27kPa. I'm thinking it may be more of a problem when the car is in closed loop as it runs much better when permanently in open loop. Any ideas what could cause this? Could it be a faulty o2 sensor? If so how do I test it?

I have attached datalogs from both runs last night. I noticed quite a high knock count on run 2 between 6:14 and 6:24. I am told this is not too much of a concern as supercharged cars often give a false knock. When the car was mapped on a dyno the mapper said the knock was okay.

BTW, i have a jrsc too and have these supposely "FALSE" knocks... Which doesn't make any sense at all b/c none of the knock levels exceed the thresholds which would lead you to be a false knock, but also it could be b/c the kpro doesn't pick it up b/c its in between frames.. So I decided to test my theory out to see if this was indeed a "FALSE" knock... I uploaded a kal that made me have alot of "FALSE" knocks in the past.. I did 1 datalog with 93 octane gas which gave me 4 knocks in 1 pull.... Then went to put 4 gal of 100 octane gas in the car.. Let it warm up for a few min.. While still having the same kal on kpro, did a datalog, did maybe 9-10 pulls with 0 knocks.... So, basically kpro is very good in picking up knocks.. Now, the knocks that we refer to as "FALSE" knocks maybe be not as harmful as the high level ones, but it still is a knock.... So, I don't think there is such things as "FALSE" knocks with kpro, maybe just low level unharmful ones...

How do you know the difference between harmful and unharmful knock?

If it makes a difference it is colder now than when the car was mapped. I always use the same 99 Octane Fuel with the same amount of octane booster added as when mapped.
