Somewhat annoying bug w/k-manager user interface

I've been bitten a few times by an annoying bug w/k-manager.

The problem appears to be that the save dialog/window pops up on whatever screen k-manager was originally opened up on.

This is a problem because I use dual head monitors at work. I might have k-pro on the second monitor, then I'll move it over to the first, undock laptop and datalog on the way home. Then when I get home and attempt ot save my datalog, k-manager appears to lock up. Problem is it opened the save dialog on a screen that no longer exists and I have no way of grabbing the dialog to use it and get k-manager back again. So I either have to kill it and lose my datalogs or hook up another monitor to my laptop, drag the save window to the 1st screen and proceed from there.

Its probably a very simple bug to fix that could save someone from losing datalogs. Seems like the save window should always pop up in the middle of the k-manager window.

Unfortunately windows determines where to display load and save dialog boxes.

I just ran into another fun variation of this bug. Apparently last time I ran k-manager it was on the second monitor. I just launched k-manager and it is trying to put itself on my second monitor which is not currently attached.


Looks like in KManager.ini there is :


[MainForm]
WindowState=0
Left=1717
Width=1384
Top=30
Height=1020

That Left value puts it right off my screen. Edited the ini, fired it back up and it was viewable.

Fixed so that KManager will not appear off the screen with multiple monitor situations.

I have the same problem when I forget to move the open/save dialog box to the screen I'm using. I have my laptop in the boot outputting the image to my car screen in the dash. Unless I move the open/save dialog box to the car screen before closing the laptop I need to stop the car, go to the boot and open the laptop etc.... However, if you just click save and type a name and press enter it will save it even though you can't see what you're typing. Pressing escape closes the open/save box.

Unfortunately this tip doesn't work for me. I'm a big unix user and I installed the TweakUI powertoys from Microsoft for XP. I have X-Mouse enabled, so a window is only active if I have my mouse over it. So if window is off screen, can't put the mouse over it and I'm stuck.
