car is randomly shutting off

Post by tsapp1 »

ive recently been having a problem with my for the last week. all of a sudden it shut off on me while i was driving and i couldn't get it to start back up so i had it towed home. tried to start it up again and the battery was dead so i went and bought a new one, put it in and it started right up. a day later it shuts off on me while driving so i pull off and start it back up and made it home. yesterday, i started it up and it shut off in the driveway after 5 mins and wouldn't start back up so...today i changed out the main relay and the car did start up but shut back down in 5 minutes. the pump is priming also and always was, but now it is starting but it wont stay on. i have an s200 installed and the red light just flashes once when the car is put in on position and then stays solid, so could the problem lie in the ecu or maybe some wiring issue? thanks for any help, i need it badly!

You need to datalog and see what is goign on. It might be that your alternator is not charging properly. This type of problem hard to troublshoot second hand like this, you may be bettter off towing the car to a Hondata dealer...although it is probably not a Hondata problem.

i thought the alternator may be a possibility. i bought this car a few months ago and i don't think i have the right cable to datalog, so can i just get the engine code by jumping a wire in the diagnostic connector behind the ecu? also, i dont live anywhere close to a hondata dealer. it's probably best for me to get the problem fixed and sell the car.

Yes you can use the scs connector to check the code.

one more question..

I'm considering converting back to a stock setup, is this a fairly easy conversion? Do I basically just swap a stock computer in for my civic, replace the stock fuel injectors and take off the supercharger? anything else I need to consider? My dad and I will be doing this tomorrow, so any input would be really appreciated, thanks for the help.
