TSX problem

Post by 06tsxeer »

So i've been having a problem with my TSX that a friend of mine that is an experienced car enthusiast said may have to do with the ECU. The problem is, while I'm driving electronics such as the radio, navigation or A/C have shut off and come back on, or you could say that they reset. Recently, it has gotten worse as while I drive, the engine has shut off and come back on within a split second. This has just happend to me tonight. After the engine shut off and came back on while I was driving, the CEL came on, the Check airbags, VSA, etc all came on. After this happend, i decide to pull into a gas station and pump gas and giving my battery connections a look. All my connections were fine. But now, the gas meter doesnt change after i fill up gas and things in the information display such as mileage range don't update either. This has been happening since august off and on, but has stopped for quite a while. It just recent started happening again last week, and has gotten bad to this point.

I have had my K-series reflash since about april. I'm bringing the car into acura service this monday. I'm hoping that its not the ECU because I don't want to lose my reflash.

Do you guys know of a possible cause or have heard of something like this happening? Does this mean I'll have to dish out another 600 dollars for another reflash if the dealer has to replace my ecu? HELP!

The fuel guage is not controlled by the ecu, so it sounds like you have some type of wiring problem in the car.

Ok, Thanks. I tried disconnecting the battery for an hour and that seemed to solve the problem. I had an ignition booster that was hooked up before and I took it out a few days ago because a friend told me that that could have been conflicting with the ECU. I haven't seen it happen yet since then but I'm going to keep an eye on it. I took it to the acura dealer yesterday to have them see if they could find anything, just to be on the safe side but almost ended up having my electrical warranty voided because of some of my aftermarket electronic parts. They wouldn't fix anything unless i put the stock parts back and let me go with a warning because i told them they couldnt void anything unless they proved the fault was the aftermarket parts.

Do you know if the engine hiccup could possibly be caused by the ECU?

Your description of the problem is that the entire car is loosing power...this is not an ECU problem.
