Do I need to tak it out to view it or is it viewable whle being installed?

Without taking it out, I got some numbers from the left side.

If you move wires around while it is not working, does it intermeitently come back on...you can try this by putting the car on jackstands and putting it in gear and letting the wheels rotate.
