So to clarify on a reflash for a Civic SI 08'?

Post by Matador »

Is timing and Fuel changed? Or is that untouched? I hear that the Cam angles and vtec are the only things touched on the reflash? Is that true?

Ignition, cam angle, VTEC point. Fuel is essentially unchanged.

Why is this? Is the MAF sensor the big problem with this car and hondata? Are you guys any close to releasing a Kpro anytime soon?

sorry dont mean to thread jack but hey hondata, how come the reflash for the 06 si doesn't advance ignition timing like the rsx type s reflash???

We tune the reflash on a dyno. This including finding the optimum ignition advance, which in this case was very close to the factory setting. Advancing further will lose power.

Why is the fuel essentially unchanged? Whats the reason for this?

Again, the stock fuel level was very close to optimum.

i think this is where it gets tricky right: since the reflash requires at least an intake (cai or sri) or a rh. the stock ecm seems to run rich with cai and i think lean with sri, therefore, the stock a/f calibrations wouldn't be optimal, am i right? to compensate a good a/f ratio for all types of different mods would be too strenous right??

I see, this is where it gets interesting for me too. Im doing research for a buddy with his SI, and there is an intake they are selling on 8th gen. civic, its nothing new, basic intake that you can get anywhere except for the money apex filter its running. There is only one thing thats interesting, apparently the guy is offering a MAF housing which he did 'modifications' to which casue it to lean out the car by doing so, to an optimum 13.7 all through the powerband, and has some video footage proving so of a datalogged run stock compared to his modified housing + Intake.

Have you guys ever experimented with this? Messing with the Intake housing? Or is it really just the Intake causing it to run more lean? And nothing realyl with this housing.... what do you guys think?

Thats what i wanted to know also. But people have stated in his thread he most likely will not divulge(sp.) his info as that is basically what is earning him money, because other than that it seems all the other stuff is off the shelf products you can piece together if you know what he was doing.

there is a thread going on right now started by a guy named JZILLA that is picking up pretty good. i mean, its not a diy by any regards, but definitely something to start from if ur looking to do the maf mod yourself. im studying the thread and some of X's old threads, and i think i have a decent idea of how to mod it. just gotta go in and do it now.

here it is:

most of the important info is at the end of the thread. but reading from the beginning helps with the science of why X's intake works.
