Wideband O2 Sensor working with s300...
Hi! Let me start with expressing my appreciation for Hondata technology and thier efforts to explain everything there is to know about fine tuning Honda ECUs!
I have a '94 GSR, P72 ECU with the s300.
I have read all of the literature on the Hondata site, but don't feel confident that I have found the understanding i need to answer the following questions I have...
(1.) Is it's possible to REPLACE my OEM O2 sensor with a WIDEBAND 02 sensor if i'm running an s300?
(2.) If so, how is it wired to the ECU/s300 if there are more wires than the OEM sensor?
(3.) Can I ALSO piggy back a wideband gauge off the same Wideband O2 sensor even if it's going to the ECU/s300? (will the gauge controller interfer with the accuracy of the 02 sensor's output to the ECU?)

This is what you need:
Look at the PLX M300: http://www.plxdevices.com/M-Series_productinfo.htm
The M300 has a display. The M300 has a narrowband analog output, which you feed into the ECU o2 sensor input to replace the stock o2 sensor. The M300 also has a wideband analog output, which you can wire into the ECU ELD input for datalogging.

The PLX M-300 looks like a great solution. It is inexpensive compared to other Wideband Controllers and gauges. Is it a high quality product that is reliable?

I don't fully understand Method #1. It mentions that the PLX has a voltage outpout of 0-5V for BOTH the narrow and wideband. That doesn't make sense to me- in fact the PLX website says that the Narrow band output is 0-1V...
Another thing I don't understand: Here's a quote:
"White 0-5V Output from wideband - connect to ELD input making sure that the ELD is no longer connected to it (ELD is pin D10 on an OBD1 ECU)"
I don't understand: Connect the White 0-5V Output from Wideband- and connect it to the ELD input making sure that the ELD is no longer connected to WHAT?
I'm confused- can someone please explain this to me?

Thank you for the correction.
So, are you saying that for Method #1, ECU Pin# D10 should be directly connected to the grey wire on the PLX, and the original ELD wire that went to Pin D10 is left hanging...?
What exactly is the ELD wire that is left hanging? Are there any side effects of the ELD being disconnected?

I did contact them and they are the same units..
Except for the obvious the M300 has a front display and the SM-AFR does not.
Beyond that PLX said they are exactly the same
