no check engine light, but D4 light flashing...

ok, maybe you guys can help me out here. i have an 96 honda accord automatic. isnt my check engine light supposed to come on when i turn the ignition on?? and then shut off after a couple of seconds when i actually start the car?? it doesnt light up at all. and my D4 light and on my gear selector display keeps flashing. what causes that?

sounds like bad electrical probs bro. did you cut any wires back there to get a power source for anything?

no wires have been cut to my knowledge. the radio is factory and i dont see any wires out of place anywhere under the dash or anywhere else. i pulled 4 codes out the ECU today,... P1362, P1491, P0453, and P0720.
