shift light output to auto meter shift light?

Post by turbotypeR »

Does anybody know if there is a way to hook the shift light output to an auto meter shift light? I assume there is a pin out to the check engine light that can be used. Is it + or -? I would like to be able to control a shift light from the parameter menu insted of using pills in the light.

The MIL outpupt is a ground. You should probably use a relay to operate a light that draws that much current.

Yeah, I figured I could use a diode to isolate the output and a relay to trigger the light. I just needed to know the output. The mil light is not bright enough to see when racing. Thanks!

i did that once. i ripped out the bulb in the shift light and CEL and put in a really bright LED and 470ohm resistor from radio shack, worked great. the shift light became my new CEL.

i just hooked the mil light output to a relay via a diode and hooked it to the shift light.

if the mil light is a ground signal why bother use a diode? the relay could trigger from the ground with out feeding back and signal right?

i used the diode because i left the mil in the dash hooked up. i just taped into the mil wire and used the diode to make sure there was no backfeed into the mil wire
