I have a chipped P28 that I ran with my S200.
I found out after much pain that the problem with tuning was due to the ecu.
How can this ecu be tested for functionability? I need to know if the socketing is bad or if the ecu itself is toast.
ecu testing
the S200 was not communicating with the ecu.
Tuning was impossible. I substituted a good known ecu and it worked perfectly. Car stalled at random times, very random behavior.
The socketing was obviously not the best job in the world from whoever did it, but I don't know if that is the problem, or if it lies somewhere else in the ecu.
What methods are there for testing the different portions of the ecu including socketing but not limited to?

The best bet is to have some one local that is familiar with socketing ecu's take a look at it and make sure that the solder joints are all good and there are no lifted or broken tracks. If the problem still persists, you should just get a new ecu as there is no way to repair a faulty ecu.
