Kmanager A/F reading Incorrect ?

Post by SAVAGE »

I have a customers car that we just put cams in . I go to start it and the car did not want to idle. So I check over a few thing every thing was right other then the A/F It was reading 26.1 and sometimes alittle leaner. But what got me was the gas smell was very strong. I went agianst my opinion and added a little fuel nothinhg real changed with the a/f just went from a 26.5 a/f to a 29.1 and the car real didnt want to run. So you add fuel and it gets leaner didnt realy understand that. So I went with my frist thought take fuel out I took 20% out were it was idled at and the car pick up and started to rev like it should and idle smoother. Toke out 10 more and perfect. And after a while of idle I got a code for primary 02. So I thought I just cought the 02 going bad so I got another 02 and Now I have no codes and the A/f still reading 26"s in the kmanager. Can any body possable have had this problem or maybe were to start checking.

It is in a 2001 integra .
I had just tuned it on Type R cams about a two weeks ago and every thing was fine no problems. Im getting ready to put it on dyno and check it out in about a hr Ill have some more info see what the dyno wideband reads.

OK I just got back fromthe dyno and the a/f on the dyno wideband was 16.1 at idle and 27.1 in the kpro. Is there something that may need to be checked in the Kmanager something that may be set wroung.

1st. check the o2 sensor in another K-pro'd car if it works fine then -->

I had a similar situation - & my o2 worked fine in another k-pro'd car

since it came back fine - i thought wiring so I went from a gen1 hasport harness (3-relay) to the newer version (1 relay) and guess what - it was still reading deathly lean (25+:1). we then verified with PLX-wideband and it was actually around 13:1

so that leaves the board in the ecu that controls the o2 functions - I bought a new (stock) k20a2 ecu & sent it to hondata & plus a nominal fee had k-pro moved from old ecu to the new....Problem solved

I believe when i had my swap installed something was originally mis-wired causing the o2 board/chip in my ecu to fry.

edit - 16:1 seems a lil high anyways....TRY ANOTHER K-PRO ECU!!!!

I have used a new o2 sensor out of box from acura , And same thing I put both 02 in another k swaped car no problem. 16.1 I think is fine at idle wide open throttle its 12.9 13.1 . But thinks you brought up a good point that I have not checked yet the relay for the 02 sensor . Im going to check that and see were Im at . just might have to send it back and have the board checked . Thinks for your input.

You need to try your ecu in a known working car.
