So I could sell the PRC-J ECU to somebody stateside that is looking for an ECU and they could have it KPro'd and have the immobilizer function disabled then?

Thank you for answering my question about the usage of this model. :D

Or do you think the dealer here would be able to turn off the immobilizer if I connected the ECU?

ECU was sent off today during lunch. Being sent USPS Express, should arrive your time Friday or Saturday afternoon.

Sidenote: Just as I was expecting, but not within 10km of driving, the plugs fouled with the other ECU in place. Car is now stranded, believe I have another set of old plugs to put in and at least get the car home and just wait for my ECU to return. :(

Once again...

Post by DC5RK20A »

I got the ECU back on Friday night, installed it, loaded up my map to be sure it was on the ECU. No problems, drove around all night with the ECU connected and was able to utilize the onboard datalogging and then all day today. Just now, went to load a map, connected the ECU by USB and click click click click, turn it all off, slight electrical burn smell. Sure enough, a different part of the new board has burnt out. The only difference from what I did yesterday and just now, my laptop was connected to the cigarette lighter. This was also how it was the first time the daughterboard fried. I never had a problem before as I always connected to the cigarette lighter with the converter that came with my Dell laptop. Though right now it's the only thing that I can think of that must of caused it. Fired the car up, immediate check engine light and once again I can not clear the error because I can not talk to the ECU. Please tell me that you can ship me off another daughterboard without needing my ECU again, I really can not go another week without my car. I want to just start breaking shit right now I am so upset, mostly because I don't know what is exactly causing the problem, besides what I stated above about the adapter being used. :( :( :(

The ecu will have to come back here again and you will have to pay the same charges as before unless we also find that the ecu is damaged then it will be more.

Please post back when the ECU arrives to you. I have misplaced my receipt somewhere at home and can not track online right now. :( Much appreciated.

Shipping cost?

Post by DC5RK20A »

Hello, I included a money order for $400 which was $250 for the board, $100 for diagnostic test and $50 for shipping back to me. I just received in the mail a bill from FedEx for ?3300. Was shipping paid for on that end? The first time I never received a bill for shipping. Actually now that I am looking at this, maybe it was from the first time. As this was prepared on the 5th of September and I didn't send the ECU in until the 7th. It's taxes it seems. Damn, this is why I asked for it to go USPS Priority. This blows, yeah it is not a whole lot of money, but still going to cost me $60 more.
