datalogging

Post by Coutts »

well i decided to mess around with datalogging today. so i went and hooked the laptop up to my hondata s200 control module via a serial-usb cable. i then tried using the hondalogger software, but it didnt work, kept crashing with error codes and never read the sensors. So then i tried using romeditor 4, i was able to datalog and read from the sensors, only after using the hondalogger software my cel was on, romeditor was showing no cel codes, and the cel light only came on when the car was actually started up (didnt come on when key was in on position). So then i looked through a couple of the options on romeditor4, and i noticed for shift light it was set to like 38rpm, and the box was darkened out so i couldn't edit it. I never touched any settings like this, and i dont see how i could have even changed them because i dont have the rom burner software. All i did was try to datalog, didnt touch any of the options on the ecu. The car runs fine and all, but it wasn't doing this before. I had a basemap put on about 2 weeks ago, and the shift light was not enabled. any help?

You need to contact whoever did your basemap and find out what version of Romeditor they used to create the basemap. ONce you determine that you must use the same version they did and via datalogging you can change the shift light settings. You can also follow the reset procedure to set the shiftlight back to it's default setting. These instructions can be found in the User's Guide at http://www.hondata.com/downloads/S200%2 ... 0Guide.doc

i figured it out. turns out you can edit stuff like the shift light without burning the chip. set it up to 6700 and all is well now. im just wondering if i can change my vtec crossover point the same way? right now its set way too high (5700), i wanted to lower it to about 5200. is there any way for me to do it or would i have to take it into my dealer to have them burn the chip again. thanks in advance.

You will have to go back to your tuner to have them change the vtec point as that would have been set in the map itself.
