VTEC does not engage

Post by spoongsr »

I have a k20z in a 99DC2 with a 02-04 warness and 02-04 kpro.. i cant get the vtec to work unless i check on the no speed signal on the k manager, but this option disables the reverse and i cant get the car to get in reverse... I don't have the speed sensor conected cause i need the get the 05 plug, plus a converter.. i dont realy care much for speed reading but i do care for the vtec to engage.. what can i do?

The crux of the problem is that you're not getting a speed signal.

The ECU needs the speed signal for many other functions apart from VTEC. You'll need a speed signal.

so besides the way you have it on the post you quote early is there any other way to make the speed signal work on a swap car (99dc2 with a k20z1)

I think the answer is clear at this point. You must use a proper VSS signal to get the VTEC to work properly.
