$18,000 H22 and Still no VTEC

Post by eimports »

I have a 98 Prelude that I have just got back from the shop about 3 weeks ago. I bought a lot of parts all at once to build this car up. Just to give a breif run down the car has been bored out ten Thousands' of an inch, it is running cosworth forged pistons, Jun connecting rods, Jun Stage 2 cams, Jun titanium retainers, valves and valve springs, jun adjustable cam sprockets, then valve and intake manifold have both been honed port and polished with a five angle valve job. It has a bigger fuel pump, bigger injectors, AEM fuel rail, AEM Fuel pressure regulator, Fujitsubo Exhaust, Mugen Header, Akimoto intake and a test pipe, Jun dual plate clutch and ultra lightened fly wheel. Anyways I had all of this stuff installed about a month ago. While the car was out at the shop I sent the computer off to be reprogrammed. I know stupid idea sence I already spent that much money, it is becuase the wife was killing me already with how much I was spending. When the work was finished and the car was done we took it out for its first test drive and it popped a VTEC code, I dont remember the code number but it was computer code number for the vtec. So that was all of the convincing I needed I order the Hondata system. Got it in today plugged it all up and still had no vtec. Do you think that the problem is more serious or do you think the vtec controller is set really high or possibly turned off. I cant get the botton to function properly or I would have just tried to set the vtec really low to see if anything came on. Any Insight would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest taking it to a Hondata delaer and let them look at it. Too many things have been changed and messed with to easilly trouble shoot this way. You need to pull the code and that will start you in the right direction.
