Changed injector ground to Hondata Spec and now issues?

Post by allout »

I changed my injector ground from the intake manifold to the valve cover as specified by Hondata.

When I took the car out for a test run, a CEL popped up in vtec. From there, I took the car home and shut it off without checking what the CEL was for. The next time I started it up to drive it, the CEL was gone and did not come up again during that drive. However, I did notice the car was not driving like normal. It felt like a loss of power throughout the powerband, especially noticeable during stop and go starts.

During this drive, I brought my laptop with me in case the CEL were to occur again and noticed the datalog numbers to be accurate but the numbers were jumping sporadicly and so fast that I couldn't read the digits.

Because of all this, I put the ground back to it's oem location and since then, the car is back to normal.

Is it possible that there is something else wrong with my electricals to not allow me to run the valve cover ground location?

Currently running K20A with K20A ecu + kpro + oem spark plugs.

Thank you.

What vehicle is this in? Are you sure the engine mount ground is in the correct location and making good contact? Where on the valve cover are you grounding the harness?

Did you put it above or below the rubber grommet?

Hi,

This is in a DC5 ITR. I am grounding the valve cover based on the pictures provided on the hondata website and thread above. It is above the rubber grommet so that it sits above the silver washer and under the 10mm nut.

I will check my engine mount ground, possibly that is of an issue.

The car runs perfectly fine with the oem grounds and only "acted up" when I switched it to the hondata specified location.

Is there a reason for the speed of the numbers fluctuating so fast? I am tentative to try the valve cover ground location due to what happened last time.

Having tried to replicate the issue, turns out it is unrelated to the ground location but rather a coincidence.

The end result was a bad tps.

Thank you guys for the help thus far. Keep up the good work.
