Ok. Here is my setup:

k20a2, RBC manifold, LSD, Hybrid-racing harness, Kpro, 1992 civic Dx Hatch. R-crew header, 3 inch exaust, intake.

My question is, My VSS is not working along with my speedometer. Kpro has no reading as well. I've tried jumping A18 with B10, nothing. I had two blown fuses under the dash. One was for high beam other didn't have a description. I replaced both nothing happend. Well, my reverse lights stop working but I'm not sure if thats because I jumped those two wires. Can anyone help me out on this? Thank you.

Ok talked to will at hybrid. I checked power and ground on the plug for the vss. Both checked out good. My ecu is good because I tried it out in a RSX-S. Nothing reads on my speedo or VSS in kpro. Could there be an open signal wire somewhere in the engine harness? I'm stumped and running out of ideas. I'm ready to give up.

I would suggest following the procedure in the Helm manual for a VSS error.

ok did the helms test for the vss. It didn't show anything on the volt meter. I guess I'll just tear up my engine harness to see if there is an open wire? This sucks.

the volt meter read zero. I also looked through the whole harness for any open wires. I didn't see anything. I'm stumped. Anyone with suggestions.

Did the speedometer work before the swap? If so, there is something wrong with the harness, send it back.

Not sure. I only bought the shell with harness already there. I should call the guy up. Kpro doesn't show a reading either on VSS.

previous owner stated the speedo worked and VSS. Anyway, I took off the "provide constant speed signal" on kpro to see if the ecu would throw a code again for vss malfunction. Well, it did. The ecu seems to be picking up speed but then stops. After the check engine lights comes on, kpro reads 3 mph. It doesn't go any higher than that. Could it be that power is low? Could it be that the vss isn't getting enough power? Should I tap into the ground for vss and run another one to the chassis?

It still isn't working. ECU is good. Power wire is getting batt volt. Ground has continuity, but white/grn has nothing. I ran a wire from vss side to ecu side, it still does not work. Is there a fuse or something for it? Someone please help.

yep. They instructed me through every process that can be done to trouble shoot the problem. They told me that the harness has nothing to do with monitering the speed. They said you could take there harness out of the setup and the speed sensor will still work but just not the speedometer. The wht/green wire splits into two wires. One for the ecu one for gauge cluster. Since the ECU isn't reading any speed, it will not send anything to the gauge cluster. I already know the wht/grn wire is at zero on my volt meter. So if there is a short but I ran a jumper wire from vss side plug to ecu, wouldn't that bypass the short? What If I just cut the wire and then run it? I'm starting to loose my patience. I've exausted every option. It seems like nobody knows what it could be. Hybrid also told me maybe my tranny has something to do with it? I know there is a speed gear on the Diff. The Vss is also working too. I replaced it already. Thanks for all the responses.

The speed signal goes from the speed sensor to both the ECU and the dash, so a incorrect connection on the vehicle side with stop the signal getting to the ECU and/or damage the speed sensor.

What you will need to do is work out which of these parts is not working: transmission drive gear, speed sensor, engine harness, vehicle harness and ECU. You can do this by substuting parts to narrow down the faulty component, or by tracing wiring / measuring voltages.

We can test the ECU for you but I've never seen the speed sensor input fail inside an ECU. It would probably be quicker and easier for you to find a friend with a RSX/Civic, and put the ECU in and see if you can datalog the speed. If you get that far, then swap speed sensors and see if that is ok. You could also take the speed sensor out and see if you can measure a signal on the VSS wire while tuning the sensor by hand. From there you need the Helm ETM and a good multimeter...

I've done all of the above except the one in red. Well, I looked inside the tranny where the vss would go and had the car run in gear. The speed gear is turning from what I see. I've swaped my ecu in my RSX-s and it reads the speed fine. I've tested the wires on the plug for vss. What I came up with is continuity, power, but I got zero reading on the wht/grn wire that runs to the ecu. I've even tried running my own wire from the vss side to ecu but that didn't work. Also my reverse lights don't work. I checked the bulbs. I've swaped my vss in the RSX-s as well, works fine. Are you saying my harness that drives the speedo is bad? My tach, fuel, and temp gauge work fine. The only thing that is left in the vehical harness is some wires on the drivers side and passenger side. I'm not sure if those are even used anymore. Except a few for the fan and turn signals. I don't get how the plug for the vss can have power, ground, but no signal. I was thinking about using a different engine harness, but I don't know how that would help me. Everything else works fine on the motor except the vss.
