I'm using the p72 and would like to know the max current a typical Honda ECU digital output can source and sink?

It depends on the ECU and output used - they are all different. The range is between 100mA and 500mA. Generally whatever output you want to drive will either be less than 100 mA, or greater, in which case use a relay to be safe.
