Failed injector

Post by aam »

Hi,
I live in the UK and have a 2002 Civic Type-R which recently developed an ECU fault.

It sudenly started running on 3 cyl on my way home from work one day. I suspected a coil pack or plug but discovered it was the injector which was not opperating. On measuring the resistance of the injector coil I found the faulty one to be 3ohm were the others are 12ohm. I replaced the injector with a good one but it still failed to run properly.

I have not been able to find anyone in the UK with experience of repairing the PRA ECU but having done some reserch I suspect the power transistor array STA464C is what has failed.

I cant locate this component anywere in the UK either, if anyone can help me locate one of these components it would be a great help.

Thankyou
Alan

The injector coil shorted, and damaged the output transistor. Assuming that you are capiable with electronics, your best bet would be to get another ECU and swap the injector driver over. You may be able to find a CRV or similar ECU for less money than the Civic ECU, which will use the same injector driver IC.
