Hondata noob, just need basic questions answered

Post by jdmcommute »

Hello guys! and girls?-maybe :? I just bought a hondata s300. Currently I have a stock 2000 civic d16y8 just with a custom HKS carbon titanium turbo exhaust!<--- Yes! This thing sounds MEAN!!! anyways I have a bored and stroked built gsr for forced induction in garage for later.

At this moment I plan on using my OBD1 P72 s300 on my d16y8 and later on gsr.

So my questions are: 1. Which basemap should I start with?
2. Is the PLX sm-afr wideband needed?
3. If so, how much difference in power will it make?
4. How much power is expected out of a tuned d16y8?

I was thinking on using this map:
" People are always afraid of whats 'different' "

You can try a P28 basemap to start, but you will have to tune on the dyno. The PLX is recommended but not required. I cannot give power estimates as it will depend on the parts you have and the potential of your engine. The Hondata system is a tool for tuning.
