Random Problem

Post by TransformedBG »

Okay we are having a hard time diagnosing a problem.... when i was driving down to have my cam spring and retainers installed, all the sudden i noticed crazy things going on, such as my abs light came on, then my radio shut down, then i lost my gauges. So i was thinking it was my alternator, but when i checked it i was seeing 14.4v's but as i drove along it would show 10, 11, 9 volts. i was thinking that maybe it just might be a fluke in the ecu or possible the voltage regulator. I was just wondering if there is any problems that could be related to the ECU?

Sounds like a faulty battery. Have the alternator and battery tested.

Well i went threw 2 battery's getting home and when i pull the positive or negative wire off the terminal the car dies. So it has to do with the charging system. I have this swapped in an EM2 on a PRC ecu and im trying to do the test like pin B10 and what not, and so far im not seeing any of the voltages i should see. In helm manual it says check the ECM, im just wondering is there a way that K-pro could tell me theres a problem with it?

You can datalog battery voltage, but you know that there is a problem so you now need to follow the Helms manual and probably get the ETM to fix the problem.

Isnt the ECM the ECU? that would mean i have k-pro in a broken ecu now?

and if thats the case, can i just send yall a new ecu and yall move my stuff over into it?

Sorry...that was a typo. I meant the ETM, which is the electrical troubleshooting manual from Helms.
